The end of 2016

At the end of 2016, all that I can say that it is a wonderful thing. The wonder is the era in which we find ourselves. It is truly better that all the decades that I have live through. The knowledge that is at our fingertips astounds me. having always loved books and libraries, the fact that I have the worlds knowledge at my finger tips amazes me.
This is not a time to be scared of but rather a time to embrace all that is present. People may be scary but they always have been. The only difference is that we now can shine a light on them and show what is lurking in the shadows. The people of this era will speak up and say "hell no. not on my watch". This is astounding. No longer can evil men do what they have always done.
We are now more accepting of each others foibles. People no longer care about you ethnicity or your orientation, but rather what is in your heart. With the advent of Facebook and other social media outlets, we can easily see how people think and what concerns them. I have connected and re-connected with the most amazing people. I feel that I have got to know them and be accepted by them.
Computer games are an amazing form of entertainment. Humans have always found ways to pass the time of day. I think it is great fun to collect Pokemon, when I am tired of the game i will stop playing. In the past I have collected spoons, stamps, crystal animals and when I have lost interest in these, i have still needed to store and dust them. Our brains are being expanded by being exposed to worlds that we would never have dreamed of seeing. Should the zombie apocalypse ever happen, all the first person shooter games would have prepared us for the onslaught.
I have learned to do things like quilting from interacting with lovely people who have helped me with the knowledge that they have shared. they have been inspiring with sharing the beautiful items they have made.
I have been able to connect with family whilst trying to work out my family tree. I think this more that anything else has made me realize what an honour and privileged it is to live in the here and now. The sadness that I have felt for the human stories that I have interacted with have astounded me. The suffering that the pioneers in the past put up with was horrendous. We are the product of their endevours and not celebrating the here and now is an insult from where we come from.
I love this era and can't wait to see where it leads us. I think our children and grandchildren will live in a time that we can't imagine. Evolution of the mind may occur and we may all get on with each other.
Love to all that I have met and are going to meet, you have made my life an amazing mosaic.

Such Arrogance

I have been inspired to jump onto my little soap box again. This inspirational poster almost made my brain exploded.

This tosser list all of the items that every human on the planet spends their live trying to achieve and this silly person just throws it out there as it is is nothing, as if she is so evolved that this is all that she wants. I hate to think that a woman would be so un aware as it sounds like an extremely spoilt bitch talking.

The fact that it starts with thinking that she did not need much and then goes to list everything that human kind is striving for.

I also love the priority that she puts her needs in.
The clean air and water really got to me. Yes everybody would love to have this. Unfortunately this is not the reality. Maybe this prima dona should go somewhere and see that these items are what joy is made of. I think she should grow up and spend a while in a desert area.

And lastly how could she diminish having somebody to love and be loved in return. This is almost impossible to find and when you do you should count yourself blessed every day in every way. This is not light and fluffy and to be listed with finding a book to entertain yourself with, this is the meaning of life you stupid women!

Even American pursue happiness. It is not a given.

Maybe if you are stupid you can take your coloring in book into the garden and all of the fairies will love you.

Hope that the world can get this huge list of items and never experience anything that is harsh, if not, get through it and just appreciate each of those items whenever you experience them.

I hope each and everyone can be blessed by the items in the list, but when it happens be greateful for each item and never downplay it as your little wishes. While she was about it why doe the list not include a green tea and whatever  spoilt little people enjoy snacking on!

Namaste' mother......s

37.Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.
38.All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.
39.Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
40.The best is yet to come.
41.No matter how you feel, get up, dress up, and show up.

43.If you don't ask, you don't get.
44.Yield.
45.Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift.

Happy WOmens' day

August is a month in which women are celebrated. Being a women I am all for celebrating us. Unfortunatley it also seems to be a time when companies want to endocrinate women into go for the brass ring within the world of corporations. The sad thing is that women will need to give up so much if they want to climb the corporate ladder. The work/life balance goes out of the window and work will take as much as you can give. WOmen wake up, companies don't give a damn, they truly will just suck you dry and discard the husk of dried out cadaver once you have given them your all. The only reason companies want women in management roles is so that they can tote them out whenever they feel hot water approaching. The other side of the coin is that women can be just as big a$$es as their male counterparts. Just reading this, I realise that men too need to not hand over their souls to profit freaks.

Oh well, work well, love well, live well!

Waste

My current huge bug bear is all of the stupid middle age people who, after realising they are now old uggo's, decide that they have to re-vitalise their lives by suing celebrities 30 years after an incident. These silly women are now over 50 and they are trying to grasp a bit of celebrity for themselves. I think the world that we live in, where narcissistic notoriety can only be gained be rubbing up again a celeb, is totally gross. These stupid women should just pull up their big girl panties and deal with it. Trying to get money out of something that happened so long ago, makes me want to puke. The thing is that we all know that teenagers are revolting and I do believe that history is being re-written by these ladies to make out that they were sweet and innocent. I just call bull-****.

I had to think deep as to why I find the current rash of court cases so upsetting and realised that it is due to the actual horrors that are currently going on. In a world that has babies that are raped. In a world that has children being molested. In a world where rape happens almost constantly. The fact that we waste a single second on some dried up old person's fantasy life is too much.

While we on this , the fact that celebrities and state officials play nicely using rape as a corner stone of getting press coverage is once again a reason to feel bile rising. What a disgusting display. How horrid. How shameful. The world really should condemn your pithiness.

I do not know the solution to this problem. Thinking people would never do this and the animals who do these unspeakable act, will never listen. May they wither.

Be a thinking person!

Balanced?

I have having a philosophical debate as to whether at the end is life it all balances out.

Do our highs and lows cancel each other out?

Are our sorrows and joys given to us in equal portions?

Do we live a linear life as if we knew all of the sorrows and joys that life would throw us at the beginning would we be brave enough to take the journey?

Do each of us have experiences which touch us in a similar way or is it just a totally random crap shoot?

Being an inquisitive person I would love to have the ability to see into the core of people. I often look at people and they look like they are having a golden ride through life. Are they really, or, are they also experiencing devastation to equalise the gifts that have been bestowed on them?

The question is if you have cried your required bucket of tears when you are young, will you have a happy later life, or, is life just a bitch and your heart just gets tougher the more nonsense you go through?

It may be the fact that as you get older, you really appreciate the joyful moments and know that the horrid ones will pass.

I think the biggest life lesson is to take what life throws at you, but, don't take it too seriously. Everything passes. A new phase will eventually happen. And joys and sorrows are both viable human experiences and should be experience with full consciousness and not from inside either a bottle or a pill jar.

Have a glorious day and enjoy.

Reunions... really?

One of the many things in this life that I truly do not get is school reunions. Really. Reunions?

Why on earth would you want to go back to school after 30 or 40 years?

I have gone to schools on many occasions since I finished, but that is due to being a parent, and not in wanting to re-live my school days. My eldest child went to the same primary school as me and that was the closest I would ever want to go back to my school days.

There are a few reasons for going to a   reunion and none of them are good.
·        Wanting to show that you are now a success.
·        See if the popular girls got fat
·        See if the jocks were ever educated
·        Hook up with people that you went out with as a teenager.
·        Show off the person that you hooked up with

None of these are a good enough reason as far as I can see. Anyone who was a true friend would have been a friend through life’s ups and downs.

I suppose you could attend and show that you have won, but, how sad. The only way this could be an authentic experience, is if each person had to do a true biography of the intervening years.
How overwhelming would an exercise like that be? How could anyone then actually feel superior?

The whole thing is that anyone that had lived a life full of happiness and sorrows would be a more real person, than one who had only skimmed across life’s experiences. Then the size of ones butt and wallet would not be of importance, but, rather the dimensions of one’s heart.

Having made myself even sadder about reunions, I will wish you well whether you go to your reunion or not.

Happy Valentine

Romance is great, but should be done on every day of the year. Great flourishes should be seen for what they are; they are all part of smoke and mirrors and in no way a thing to be hankered after.

The idea of getting anonymous Valentine is just a little stalkish. Imagine the great steps forward we could make humanity if there was a celebration of honesty. It would be far braver to invent a holiday where people needed to be open and honest with a person that they liked.

The commercialism is all good and well and part of what makes the world go round, but really, why would you love somebody because they sent you flowers. This is the same stupidity that is shown by young girls who think they love someone due to the car that they drive or what their parents own.

Lust is a totally different animal, and if this is what you are after then for Pete’s sake, send as many bunches of flowers as you can and scribble in as many cards as there are people to send them to. It is after all a numbers game and you never know when you are going to get lucky. Just don't be sad when it fizzles out like a mouthful of pop rocks.

Who knows where love comes from?
Is it biological as in knowing that your combined genetics would make interesting offspring?
Is it having matching and complementary neuroses?
Is it coming from similar socio-economic backgrounds?
Is it some sort of ego boost?
Or lastly are we destined to be with specific people and if we are very lucky we can form a family with that person and live out our lives feeling secure and loved.

The whole thing of really being with somebody is that they get to know you through and through. This is not just the advertised cool bits, but, all the other bits as well. The bits that, if you are honest with yourself, you can sometimes get embarrassed about. If you have never felt any embarrassment about who you are at your very depths, then you are either an amazing human that is seriously evolved, or you are still reading the manufacturers opinion of you. Parents tend to talk you up, don't believe them. :D

After all of that, I hope everyone has an amazing Valentines Day. May I wish you a Happy Valentine and may love cross your path.

May your heart be all a flutter.

Love your children

The only job you have as a parent is to love your children.

On Facebook I have been seeing stupid posters that people have liked and shared, that advocate smacking children as well as never given in to the demands of children. I believe that this is just disgusting. These parenting tips are brought to people under the guise of a religious thoughts. I suppose that these poor people have taken to religion so I suppose they have forgotten how to think for themselves or they are so badly scarred from their own traumatic upbringing that they want to perpetrate the horror.

As far as I am concerned, the only reason that children are smacked is that children are really annoying and beating them relieves some of the stress. It is disgusting to raise your hand to a child. It is not you winning as a parent but rather you failing as a human being. I think that adults who smack children are the basest bullies that walk this earth.

The other parenting tip is that you must never give in to your child’s wants. Yes it is embarrassing having a child throw a tantrum in a shop, but, how on earth could it have got that far if you were being an engaged parent and actually listening to what your child wants. I have found that if a child wants something and the item is out of your reach as a human, then a quiet conversation with your child will normally allay any tantrum and allow your child to realize that you are not just being a dick-head in not getting them what they want.

I think the saddest story that I was told about my childhood is that I only threw one tantrum in my life. I threw the wobbly and was beaten by my mother (this being the same person who fed ants as all creatures were glorious). Well as the story goes the next time I wanted to have a hissy, I threw myself down and then jumped up and shut up when I saw her. I could cry for the child that I was. How horrid to not be able to express the sheer frustration of not being able to communicate. I then didn't get to talk for quite a few years after that as my older sister did all of the talking for me.

Luckily I have got over that now and can throw the most glorious tantrums if I don’t think that I am being heard.

I think it is amazing when you are able to give a child what they want. Think of the evolution of the mind of the child, as the item given will stimulate thoughts that we as adults can never even imagine. Each generation is supposed to have a higher IQ than the previous one and the only way that is possible is to give them what they need. Parents are parents because they decided to have children and this must be the highest priority in their lives.
I think the highest honor and privilege that I have been given in my life is to be a mother. I have the most amazingly creative children in the world and this was not beaten into them.

Namaste' glorious ones!

Happy 2014

Happy new year 2014. May we all have an amazing year.

The numbers of this year add up to seven so this could be a wildly chaotic time in which things happen in a manner that is even better that anything that we could think about.

I hope that in this year more people discover their own creativity and are able to pursue whatever it may be. I think it is a true blessing to be able to create.

As for resolutions. Don't bother making them. I feel that most people are always living the best lives that they can manage. Should you wish to try harder at the beginning of a year, that is great, but, don't expect yourself to be a totally different person this year. You are who you are that that is good enough.

Wedding fun

My eldest child is getting married and it has brought to mind thoughts I have on both weddings and marriage in general.

It is truly an amazing thing when two people get together and decide to get married. What they are actually trying to do is form a new family unit. From this the next generation can spring and then they too can become ancestors.

The modern thing of writing your own vows is pretty silly. The old ones pretty much covered all the bases that needed to be covered.

Firstly I like the word cleave, as in cleaving unto each other. What this says to me is that you become one unit. One itches, then the other scratches. If you think of being a single unit then how could you do anything that would harm the other part of you or hurt the other part of you?

The second bit of forsaking all others, well that is true, you have to put your spouse first. I know this is an ignored opinion with people being told to pursue their own fun and give their partners freedom to pursue their own thing. Just be careful that in all the pursuing the reason for being together does not get lost.
The thing I feel with the forsaking is that at last you are declaring to the world that you are a new family that all other people should not impeded your progress towards this goal. The other part of forsaking is the being faithful to your spouse until you both die. Now this one is pretty harsh. Not the bit that when you both alive, this goes without saying, but, what most people don't seem to get is that it is until you both peg.

The thing is that what you are agreeing to is serious. If you are an honourable person then the vows that you are taking should almost make you shit yourself. You are on the lightest side of the agreement, promising to love this person regardless of what happens. You are promising to cherish them no matter what.

The word cherish should be worried about. It is sneaky. Cherishing goes way beyond loving and caring, cherish is the thing that will make your heart skip a beat when you unexpectedly see your spouse in a crowd. Cherish is knowing what the other one want before they even do. Cherishing can just bring a lump to the throat in all it should invoke.

In traditional wedding ceremonies they have all the times quoting all the ups and downs. If you live long enough together you will experience the better and worse, the richer, the poorer and the sickness and in health. In the modern idiom I think they should add in the exciting and the boring. They should also add something about even in the cross and grumpy. The thing about in sickness of course is that with one sign of a pen, your spouse now has the right to make all of your medical decisions should you not be able to. So be nice to them, they could switch off the machines one day.

Now with all this talk of marriage we get back to the wedding. Instead of it being quite a sober affair that is in line with what you are promising to do, most wedding become this extravaganza of trying to be people who we really are not. Women would not in all reality run around in white poofy dresses that make them look like sugar plum fairies. What does it say about us that we expect people to pretend to be someone else on the one day that you had better have a grasp on what is real.

I know it is a celebration, and as such I will keep my opinions to myself. (Here doesn't count, the likelihood of my child reading this is almost the same odds as the zombie apocalypse)

I think it is lovely that they are getting married. It shows hope and really that is all that is needed to keep going in this world of ours.

Taco hell oops sorry meant shell

My family and I love to have a Taco evening every now and again. This comprises of us purchasing a box that contain the required spices to zing up the mince, Taco salsa to use in the construction of the tacos and lastly the taco shells. We normally also buy an extra bottle of salsa as the amount given would only give you a cubic centimetre per taco which is just ridiculous.

Well we planned this excitement for our evening repast last night and my child grated the cheese, I sliced up a lettuce into 5 mm strips and tomatoes into tiny blocks and my husband prepared the mince. All was going well, there was a bit of excitement as the box pronounced that it contained a new look. Hey we come from Africa almost anything excites us. I imagined all sort of new containers, added toys, possible a tiny piñata.

The wonderful smell filled the kitchen and the salsa had been doled out into individual serving bowls. The lettuce, tomato and cheese were all ready and looking inviting and then the new look was spotted, what had been excitement turned to despair as we realized the new look was flat taco shells, no longer were they going to be enticing shells to put delicious flavours into and then enjoy their crispy delight, but rather flat objects that would need to carry the flavours in a precarious journey from the dinner plate to the mouth with morsels of deliciousness falling back to the plate waiting surface. The worst thing was that these new shaped taco shells were not all flat, but only half of them which then allowed us to have the debate as to whether to be the altruistic martyr or allow each family member to grow by experiencing the bitter disappointment of a flat taco shell.

Please go back to the old style taco shells; they really work a whole lot better. The dinner was taken from amazing to okay and that is a sad thing to do in this day and age where things are a struggle as it is.

Be a real Rabbit

I love the story about the velveteen Rabbit that longs to be real. The poor rabbit needed to lose some of it's fluff and perfection to achieve this state. I feel that I had my pretensions taken away from me at quite a young age. I have never regretted it as I feel the state of real is something that you should strive for.

I get really worried about people that I know that are still full of pretensions. I have seen how the life has a tendency to dish out enough problems to equal the level of entitlement shown. I have seen people live their lives so as to impress others with stuff that is only created by smoke and mirrors. Motivation is also so important. When the motivation is greed then nothing good can come out of it.

The other side of this is the really dumb choices people make to ensure that they experience problems. I have done it to myself; whilst sitting far too comfortably in my life; I took myself overseas to work so that I could feel what poverty felt like. I learnt two seriously important lessons, firstly that I didn't like living under the bread line and secondly, that the grass is not always greener on the other side. But, hey, some more of my pretensions went away and I became a bit more real.

If you think of the word pretentious, then the root of the word is pretend. I think that it is a form of insecurity that initiates pretentiousness. It is frightening to stand in front of the world and let it see who you actually are. The biggest leap is not to give a damn. This is both coming towards you and going out from you. Giving a damn is not the same as caring. You should still care, but not with the negativity that is required with trying to impress people. The other thing to remember is that anything that other members of your family have done is not your fault and no guilt is needed over the deeds of others. You can admit to others what has occurred in your life and the interesting thing is having a real conversation may allow other to be real back. It is amazing how many experiences people have in common.

I have also witnessed people who borrow other people's woes. These are often celebrities who the borrower has never met. Borrowing other people’s sorrows is a shocking thing to do. It is sham and is part of pretension. You do not grow as a person by crying tears over something that is not your lesson. It is just self indulgence and often only performed so that others can see how sensitive you are. Be careful as the tears you cry over someone else’s lesson, as this may cause the lesson to be given to you.

It is the same as criticism. In my life I have experience most of the things that I had thought harshly about in others. In retrospect it is all quite funny. I suppose that is what the final realization should always be. That all the things that we go through are all just material for and excellent comedy routine called life. So be brave, show the world who you actually are and maybe slowly but surely you will loose the new and shiny fur that you had as protection and then you too will be real.

Anthropology: are you making it?

Here is a question: Has electronic storage of your history destroyed the anthropological foot print you may have left for future generation? Has electronic storage actually created a footprint that you can share? How many photos have you actually printed so that when your hard drive crashes or Facebook decides to throw away your posted photos you have something to look at?

It is also an interesting question of how will future generations remember you? Have you made anything that will be looked at and actually get a spark of memory happening? Have you done anything interesting so that stories can be told about you?

I have a box that contains my mother's family artefacts and I have also added items from my mother's life. There are stories from my family's history, but mostly due to the fact that they were on the frontiers of Africa. Most of the history has tragic overtones. I have tried to tell stories of their lives, but there are so many holes in the tales that it is just a work of fiction. I have photos of their lives it still does not bring their thoughts through.

I suppose that DNA is the one way in which we can follow the history of our ancestors and future generation will be able to see their path right back to us and then back to the cave man. Our little journey of passing on the human message has been encoded. I liked the Dune books where knowledge was passed down to the next generation. I suppose that is the nature part of it and then the nurture will reflect the history of the families that led to the way that we think.

The values we have are hopefully better than the previous generation. That is whatever generation you are from. Hopefully my children will actually have children of their own and whether good or bad, those children get to hear stories of my life.

Poor little Rainbow

I feel that my right to be fabulous has been violated. It all started slowly with the Beetles wanting the rainbow, and then Apple wanted the rainbow and the apple and the finally the poor rainbow was high jacked by the gay people and they seem to be hogging it.

Though I think the beetles were actually the start of the rainbow being considered to represent gay people; well look at their photo and maybe you can see what I mean. I also love their outfits.

I have no problem with people finding love wherever they can as that is probably the meaning of life and how dare anyone question another person's choice. Equally any person who is prepared to raise and love a tiny human through the terrible two's and through teenage-dom, then pay for college and finally independence should have the right to do so. A child does not judge the person who loves them so once again how dare any other person interfere. As a parent it does not matter who  you are as long as you have ethics and never harm those in your care it really does not matter who you have as a partner. There are enough theoretically normal people that raise children and teach them the weirdest of things.
:icondashiediv1::icondashiediv2::icondashiediv3::icondashiediv4::icondashiediv5::icondashiediv6::icondashiediv7::icondashiediv8:
Well back to being fabulous. I think if gay people can get married and adopt children then they have to give back the rainbow for all of us to use. They may still be fabulous, but, no longer should the rainbow be exclusively theirs.

The poor Nyan cat has been labelled as symbol of gay pride and all it does is leave a vapour trail in the colours of the rainbow. Maybe the kitty does like kitties of its own sex or maybe it finds the opposite sex exciting, who are we to judge and shove a label on the kitty
just because it has a fabulous choice of colour.

Poor my little ponies, not only are they made out of rubber and have been scribbled on, now they too are considered to be gay. It is bad enough that they are being exploited for entertainment without the benefit of first having a decent voice coach or options to preview the script. Stop the labelling.

The pot of gold is also a bit frightened as it is scared that it can only be found in an area where gay men prefer to hang out; well that is just plain silly. I know leprechauns look like strange little fellows but
once again stop judging them and saying that they are gay due to  playing with rainbows and pots of gold. They may very well be, but once again we don't care.

Now that everyone can get married and have children, the proverbial pot of gold is going to be all used up for pedestrian thing like school fees.

So no more selfishness, if you want to be part of every day life then you actually have to just fit in and stop making a noises as to how down trodden you are. I don't care who anybody goes to bed with and I certainly don't want to hear about it.

To all the straight people out there, use the rainbow in some way in the next week and get the full enjoyment of the whole spectrum of colours that white can be broken into. No longer do we have to stick to cream , beige or taupe; breakout and paint a wall any colour you choose even turquoise or lavender, this too is your right.

So lets all get together and just be people.  Do your bit to save the kitties and ponies from being labelled. It is the only way to be.
